Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week – Karl Subban Presentation

Monday, November 18 to Friday, November 22 will be Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week at Father John Kelly. During this week, students and staff will highlight the importance of bullying, prevention and intervention. On Wednesday, November 13, Father John Kelly welcomes Mr. Karl Subban for a school presentation in support of Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week. In his thirty years of coaching, teaching, parenting and leading, Karl Subban has learned how to inspire people. “Your greatest gift is your potential,” he often says, “and your greatest gift to the world is the development of that potential.” Hailing from the Caribbean, where he never played hockey, Mr. Subban has nonetheless raised three NHL players, including former Montreal Canadiens defenseman and Olympic Gold Medalist P.K. Subban. Mr. Subban is an accomplished best-selling author, having penned two books: “How We Did It: The Subban Plan for Success in Hockey, School and Life”, in which Subban shares tales of his family’s unique hockey journey, mixing personal stories with lessons he learned about goal setting, resilience and accomplishment. Inspired by his five children, his second published work, “The Hockey Skates”, is a story about maintaining perseverance and optimism. Karl’s third book, “Raising Your Roof”, is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2025. Mr. Subban will be delivering three presentations: FDK (9:10 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.), Grades 1 to 3 (9:40 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.) and Grades 4 to 8 (10:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.), including a question and answer
